Sabbaticals and Further Studies Grants

The BUGB standard terms of appointment recommend that ministers are given a period of sabbatical (usually three months) every seventh year of ministry. Please note though that this is something that needs to be negotiated with your church, and NWBA cannot insist on this on your behalf. It is particularly important that you discuss this with your church when you first settle, especially if you are due for a sabbatical in the immediate future.

There is some assistance available from the Baptist Union of Great Britain to meet the financial costs of a sabbatical. (NB this is to cover costs incurred by the minister, and not to reimburse the church for stipend costs)

Grants are also available for further studies. Initial applications for both of these should be made to Revd. Ian Millgate in the ministry department of the Baptist Union.
