Ebenezers - coffee, cake and conversation
We are delighted to announce the opening of Ebenezer's Coffee shop a Fresh Expression of church community in the refurbished chapel at Billington in the
Ribble valley. With stunning views across the Lancashire hills, great coffee and a warm welcome it is already proving to be a popular feature of the local
community. If you are visiting the area or are out for a drive in Lancashire, why not add Ebenezer's to your itinery?
When the existing chapel closed its doors in 2017, NWBA worked with local volunteers and with the help of the Baptist Union Corporation managed to
secure the premises to be of further service to the growing community of Whalley and its surrounding villages. Ebenezer's is open Monday to Saturday and
as well as offering a variety of snacks, light meals and great coffee has already established a number of community initiatives.
We are also working with the team to establish a variety of Christian-based gatherings with a particular desire to provide spiritual space to those who might
not normally feel inclined to attend more traditional church services.
NWBA Regional Minister, Revd Phil Jump is part of the management team that are developing the centre and commented 'When the chapel first closed, we held our regular
team away day there. It was something of a challenge - we spent the first ten minutes trying to find the main switch to put the electricity on. We could see that the
building needed some serious work doing, but could also see the potential of its location. I am delighted to see the transformation that the current team have achieved
and would suggest that this is something of a flagship for how other churches might adapt their premises to become more accessible and attractive.'
