God's love is not contained by sacred temples or religious courts,
Nor confined to those whose reputations and rank
Can somehow deserve its attention and reward.

This love cannot be extinguished
By oppressive schemes of human empires,
Or through doors of indifference and disdain
Being shut in the faces of those through whom it will appear.

For here, amidst the agony and joy of human birth,
God's love is shared with those who will embrace this fragile chaos.
And as those who the world might least expect
An outcast couple, half-dazed shepherds and foreign strangers
Gather to believe and acknowledge its greatest expression,
This love finds its way to the heart of human reality.

And in our world,
Where similar echoes of agony and joy,
Indifference, disdain, oppression and conflict
So readily prevail,
God's inextinguishable love
Endures in the face of every earthly circumstance.
