Sarah Nutter

I'm married, with two adult daughters, two young grandchildren - and a border collie! Home is in the Pendle countryside of east Lancashire. Formerly a dental nurse in my family's practice, I then focused on family and home and for thirty years volunteered in a local primary school. I love visiting gardens and historic places, singing, laughter and spending quality time with friends.

I am a member of Sion Baptist Church, Burnley. Over twenty three years, I have been joint secretary-administrator which included us leading the church through a busy pastoral vacancy. I've served on many working groups, such as budgeting, legacy investment and our Futures Group. Previously, I was pastoral care coordinator and also ran the room letting of our extensive premises. I have always felt that God led me into this role, enabling me to gain experience of how a church can function well, follow good practices and legal and business requirements. I am a member of the active Churches Together in Burnley group.

I have been a trustee of NWBA for many years, using my local church experience. It has been a privilege to have been involved in - and able to witness first hand - how our Association has developed and adapted to best support and meet the needs of our churches, especially in recent challenging times. I am a member of the Strategy Group and represent NWBA on Baptist Union Council. Additionally, I have sat on staff interview panels and enabled a mediation.

Steven Hewitt

I am married to Rebecca and have two children, one at university, one preparing to go. I was a sports journalist until I felt God calling me to explore ministerial training in 2008-09. I was commended by my home church, Lancaster Baptist Church; then the NWBA Min Rec committee; and finally Northern Baptist College in June 2009. I studied there for four years. The majority of those years were spent on placement at Stanley Road Baptist Church in Morecambe. At the end of the placement, the church invited us to stay. I was ordained at Lancaster in July 2013 and inducted at Stanley Road in September 2013.

During my time at SRBC, I spent several years on the NWBA Ministry Group, serving on several Min Rec committees and supporting four Newley Accredited Ministers through final formation. I also mentored a Minister-in-Training for three years at SRBC (2019-2022) and he is now serving in a pioneer context in the NWBA. I am keen to see the NWBA be a place that develops resilient, godly ministers, allowing them to explore their calling from God and then grow into that calling as they serve the local church.

Kirstie Banks-Lyon

Kirstie has served for several years as NWBA Safeguarding Trustee, drawing on a wealth of professional experience to serve in this role. She is a deacon at Lancaster Baptist Church and enjoys spending time with her family and grandchildren. Kirstie is one of safeguarding trainers and enjoys visiting other churches in the NWBA as part of this role.
