When we set the date for a gathering of women in March 2025 2025, we had no idea if it was a good idea! But a small group of women felt that it was right to step out in faith and see what God might do.
Despite challenging deadlines, and on our part, it has to be said, fairly low expectations, we were amazed that God brought together 50 women from many Churches across our region, some even travelling for around 2 hours for a morning gathering with lunch!
Our theme was ‘Draw Closer: to God and to each other’ and we did this through telling stories of how God had worked in the lives of a number of women.
We worshipped together and reflected on the passage from Mark 5:21-34, and we heard storied from women of different ages and backgrounds who blessed us in their willingness to be honest and vulnerable. We then had opportunities to share our own stories in small groups.
We closed in worship and most stayed on to continue chatting over lunch.
New friendships were made, connections were built, encouraging words were exchanged and above all Jesus was present and evident in our midst.
The feedback was positive and people wanted to do more and so we have committed to make this an annual event.
